just read a couple articles on yahoo and it's time to VENT! at least i won't bore lauren later with it.
what i find really disturbing is how the atkins corporation (whatever they're called, atkins health, atkins nutritional approach or whatever) refuses to acknowledge even the possibility that the diet might be stressful on your kidneys. and it might have adverse affects on people with pre-existing conditions. their latest response to criticism that a prominent medical group doled out about the diet was that they [PCRM] were doing it just to advance their social and political views ("exploiting the obesity and diabetes crisis in this country to further its own vegan political and philosophical agenda") i mean, what about your bottomline?! how can anyone trust the atkins corporation (that sell various atkins branded food items, books, and what have you) to make public any misgivings they have about the diets regime if it affects the company's overall profits? i mean it's just retarded and honestly, i am tired of hearing from atkins fanatics/followers that it is the "right" diet and what our body was meant to eat. whatever. if people want to potentially ruine their kidneys and stress out their systems without questioning its validity, what can i say. but at least the PCRM is trying to call attention to it so the CDC does it's job and does some investigation through controlled studies. that way the cdc can ensure that the american public (alot of which blindly follows other people) at least has study-backed answers available from a (supposedly) non-biased gov't source.
but hey, i guess even atkins has to make their money.

wow. i am bored. really don't feel like writing jsp pages today. blah.
what to say about the latest destruction, this time in turkey. um. yeah. it's just disgusting really. and i have a hard time not feeling some resentment towards the current administration. can't blame them completely for this, but the way that we have been interacting with the rest of the world is just dispicable. i think that the war in iraq is hurting more than just our men and our pockets. we are hurting so many people around the world that have absolutely nothing to do with us or iraq or britain, etc. they just want to live their lives and we are intruding on them, pushing our propaganda and just making a mess of everything. and yet, we still have found nothing that we were supposed to in iraq. so what good as come out of it? maybe one can aruge that the people of iraq are happier... and maybe some are... some might be thrilled and relieved... but how many people are hurting or dead for the happiness of few and the supposed success of a country.
i am not sure what to think anymore about it. even if bush is out in 2004, what do we do then with this mess? the next guy is totally screwed. he has to try to pick up the mess while not further indebting the country beyond what we've already spent. when i pay my federal taxes, i never asked that the money go to killing people. which is something i can't fathom -- why us citizens are blindly handing them 1/3rd of their money and not really saying "hey, you know could you use a little of that for schools or healthcare?" i mean, that is our money we give them and we don't care what they use it for? maybe politics is my calling. but then again, i'm not exactly rich so guess i'm not really meant for that arena.

So, lots of things to talk about this morning. First and formost while I remember that I am annoyed it -- why do local business *insist* on sending my useless flyers every week that litter my mailbox!!! It is seriously frustrating to have a completly packed mailbox and be dropped mail everywhere while you're trying to get out the bulky circulars from ralphs, vons, etc. I don't know what there is anyway to stop it but I just needed to express my disgust with this weekly occurrance. I wonder if putting a sign on my box that says "no circulars" would work. anyway, whatever.
so Puppy 101. interesting. I think the instructor already has a negative feeling on my pups just b/c of the big "no-no" of having 2 puppies at one time. Hey, if someone had told me it was a no-no, maybe then I'd still have one puppy but only the SPCA people have expressed how wrong it is. Anyway, not going to give up either of them at this point so either they can be helpful and positive in class, or blame any class-room issue on the fact that they are being raised together. Personnally, from living with Savannah for over a month, I am fairly certain that she would be hard to focus even without Nikki around b/c that's just her. Anyway, Nikki is picking it up really fast - probably b/c she is food insane. But I also think she may be a little smarter than Savannah in general. Just picks things up faster - which is impressive since Savannah is already pretty smart herself (at least smarter than alot of dogs I have "met"). I am a little worried that the 8 days I have to kennel them will probably not help the situation since they will be hanging out together for a week and not have much human contact... so we'll see...

i want to eat the whole thing.
So I guess it just default inserts some "sample" thoughts for you? or did I just encroach onto someone else's blog? or vice-versa, damnit! it's MY blog!!!
Alright, so I got an extra little something from Starbucks for a mid-day treat. I actually didn't buy a beverage when I was there - which is interesting. Leaving starbucks without something warm or caffeine-packed. Anyway, so I want to attack it. But the whole point of it was as a tie-me-over until after Puppy 101. Life is so hard [sarcasm].
So what I am noticing is so cool about this whole blog thing is that if you're a code geek like myself, you can totally personalize it and get creative with HTML. I mean, I can just insert whatever font or table or whatever that I want. Finally - I am getting some fun out what I do everyday at work. I wonder if I can insert some JavaScript too. Now that would just be cRAzY!!
